INDUSTRY UPDATE / RECORD 05
Industry update: Skylock and Insignito
announce passive-acoustic integration for multi-layer C‑UAS.
Skylock Systems and Insignito have separately disclosed a strategic cooperation arrangement in public social-media announcements: Insignito acoustic sensors are to be integrated as a passive sensing layer within Skylock’s multi-layer Counter‑UAS system. This industry note uses those announcements and public NATO Romania trial coverage to examine the multi-sensor integration context.
INDUSTRY RECORD SUMMARY
The public partnership announcements place passive acoustics in a complementary multi-sensor chain.
Skylock’s public announcement states that the companies have signed a cooperation agreement to integrate Insignito acoustic sensors into its multi-layer Counter‑UAS solutions. Insignito’s announcement likewise describes DUMBO as the acoustic sensing layer within the Skylock system. Both connect this progress with previous participation in a large-scale NATO trial in Romania. The public record supports an announced collaboration and integration direction; it does not establish a NATO standard, a system-performance promise, or an endorsement of any third-party product.

INTEGRATION CONTEXT / 02
From passive acoustic input to cross-sensor event corroboration: an industry reading.
Passive acoustic input
Captures audible features such as rotor acoustics to add a perimeter sensing input that does not depend on RF transmission.
Limited-RF-observability scenarios
For event contexts where usable RF-control characteristics may be limited, passive acoustics may contribute an additional input for corroboration; actual identification remains a field-validation question.
EO/IR, RF & radar coordination
Different sensing modalities may provide complementary information under project conditions, supporting event-level corroboration and clearly assigned assessment responsibility.
Human authority & validation
Site deployment, data handling, and any controlled-response arrangement should remain inside regulatory, project-boundary, authority, and written-validation conditions.
INDUSTRY IMPLICATIONS / 03
The partnership reflects multi-sensor integration, not the replacement of one technology by another.
The following is New Ark’s industry interpretation of public records. It is not certification, procurement guidance, or a performance assessment of any supplier, system, or trial result.
Complementarity over a single point
Both the public material and the NATO trial background emphasise coordination of sensors, command and control, and other systems. Project design should follow the environment, information gaps, and a validation plan.
A complementary role for acoustics
Passive acoustics may add input for events that lack useful RF-control observability, while visual, RF, or other information still needs project-specific cross-confirmation.
Safe boundaries at critical infrastructure
For oil and gas, chemical, and other high-risk sites, siting, equipment class, industrial interfaces, electromagnetic compatibility, and safe offsets should be confirmed before capability discussion.
SOURCE & DEPLOYMENT BOUNDARY / 04
Source attribution, engineering validation, and human responsibility must remain explicit.
01This article attributes the partnership, trial participation, and sensor integration to public announcements or public reporting from the relevant organisations. It does not present them as a NATO standard, independent performance finding, or New Ark capability.
02The passive acoustic layer does not use electromagnetic transmission as its detection method. Compatibility between a complete system and industrial control, communications, navigation, and other site equipment still requires project-level assessment.
03This public page contains no operating, response, or control procedure. Any controlled configuration requires site authorisation, local regulatory review, spectrum and EMC assessment, and a decision by authorised personnel.
