RF Drone Detection Architecture: Sensors, Processing and C2

An RF drone detection architecture should be treated as an authorised information service, not an autonomous intervention system. A project may define how approved RF observations, contextual records, and system-health notices are collected, processed, and presented for accountable human review. The design should state evidence limits, protect essential services, and keep privacy, electromagnetic compatibility, and legal obligations visible throughout the lifecycle. Rather than promising identification or coverage, New Ark guidance can help project teams document assumptions, safe offsets, access controls, interface responsibilities, and written validation before any production decision is accepted.

INFORMATION & PROJECT-GOVERNANCE CONTEXT / CONCEPTUAL SCENE

Put technology questions back into an authorised, reviewable, and verifiable project context.

This conceptual scene helps explain conditional information, protected services, human review, and written validation. It is not a deployment or field-outcome claim.

BLOG SUMMARY

PROJECT QUESTION / 01

1. Define the authorised information boundary

TECHNICAL GUIDE · ANALYTIC RF PROJECT REVIEW

Begin with a project charter that identifies the lawful purpose, approved information sources, data owners, retention expectations, and people permitted to view or export records. RF analysis may be used to organise observations, but it should not be presented as proof of identity, intent, or wrongdoing. The charter can distinguish raw observations, derived indicators, contextual information, and administrative health records while documenting what each can and cannot support. Any change in purpose, data source, or user population should require written approval. This boundary keeps the architecture evidence-led and prevents an analytic display from being mistaken for an operational directive.

CONTEXT & UNCERTAINTY / 02

2. Govern processing and evidence limitations

TECHNICAL GUIDE · ANALYTIC RF PROJECT REVIEW

Processing should be documented as a chain of accountable transformations: authorised input, project-defined interpretation, uncertainty statement, storage decision, and review record. Teams may record provenance, time context, quality caveats, and known gaps without publishing algorithms, thresholds, ranges, or other operational parameters. Outputs should use calibrated language such as may indicate, requires corroboration, or not validated for decision use. Independent reviewers can examine whether summaries preserve the original evidence and whether stale, incomplete, or conflicting records remain visible. Written acceptance criteria should cover data integrity, access logging, change control, and retirement, subject to project validation.

PROTECTION & COMPLIANCE / 03

3. Protect services, privacy, and electromagnetic compatibility

TECHNICAL GUIDE · ANALYTIC RF PROJECT REVIEW

A responsible design treats neighbouring services and affected people as project constraints. The assessment should identify protected services, lawful collection boundaries, privacy expectations, retention and deletion rules, and electromagnetic compatibility responsibilities. It may require coordination with facilities, safety, legal, and information-governance owners before any connected component is approved. Documentation should explain how accidental collection, sensitive locations, or personally attributable information would be minimised and handled. No architecture description should imply permission to interfere with communications, alter navigation, or affect third-party systems. Safeguards, approvals, and exception handling should be recorded as written project decisions.

GOVERNANCE & VALIDATION / 04

4. Govern C2 presentation and human accountability

TECHNICAL GUIDE · ANALYTIC RF PROJECT REVIEW

C2 should be framed as a controlled interface for authorised review, not a mechanism for automatic action. The project can define role-based views, provenance labels, uncertainty notes, escalation ownership, audit trails, and a clear separation between observation, assessment, and decision. Human reviewers should be able to challenge, annotate, defer, or reject an output, with reasons preserved for later assurance. Interface changes may require peer review and documented release approval. Before acceptance, written validation should test usability, access control, records, failure handling, and legal assumptions using representative but non-operational scenarios; any limitations must remain visible to users.

TECHNICAL & COMPLIANCE BOUNDARY / 05

This guide is an educational project reference—not an operating, deployment, integration, or performance instruction.

01Availability and interpretation of acoustic, RF, radar, EO/IR, visual, and other information depend on site conditions, environment, data quality, protected services, permissions, privacy, and accountable review. This page does not promise detection, identification, classification, location assessment, tracking, availability, safety, non-interference, or risk outcomes.

02Any equipment, interface, data handling, industrial-system connection, spectrum-related arrangement, aviation coordination, or later project decision requires appropriate authority, engineering review, qualified personnel, and written scope.

03The public guide does not provide target selection, sensor positioning, thresholds, algorithms, execution sequences, signal control, interference, navigation manipulation, or response methods.
